    hmmmm...

    We had dinner at a friend's and he made mouth watering Vetkoek... Fat Cakes... OK OK it doesn't translate well...

    Vetkoek and curry mince...

    basically a bread dough of which palm sized pieces are deep fried in oil... fried till golden on one side and then on the other...

    golden and crisp outside and cooked inside...

    So off I went tonight...

    and I have no idea if it'll be a success or not because i made it up as I went I copied a Vetkoek recipe... resized it... it was huge...

    and added some goodies to it...

    OK Ok... I should have long been sleeping and i am off now... feeling a little homesick after reading about SA and remembering...

    will post a South African desert/sweet recipe... think Donut only better...!! Oh and go slow on these!!

    Recipe for Koeksister (South Africa)

    Ingredients

    500ml (2 cups) cake flour
    20ml (4 teaspoons) baking powder
    3ml (½ teaspoon) salt
    25ml (5 teaspoons) butter
    125ml (½ cup) sour milk or buttermilk, or water and lemon juice

    Enough Oil for deep frying

    another South African Recipe... I found on the internet because I can't call my mom now for her recipe or she'd kill me... international time difference... Try it... adjust it to taste this is food for the gods...!! well if the gods were South African at least... Wink

    Instead of meatloaf why not try this one day?
