Competition!!

!COMPETITION!
In order to encourage an active start to our forum I have decided to launch a competition running until the end of August.
Five prizes will be awarded based on posts made by members starting today July!!!!!17th until the end of August 25th 2010. The prizes will be made up of a collection of Lotion and other Cosmetics bottles and containers I have pictured in the thread Pic heavy! - Packaging and container store I always go to...
After August 25th 2010, nominations can be made by members as to the
Nominations will end August 31st, 2010 and voting will finish on September 7th.

- best new topics started,
- number of new topics started,
- best replies posted by members,
- funniest post or reply by members,
- suggestions are open for the 5th prize, please PM me with suggestions.
Nominations will end August 31st, 2010 and voting will finish on September 7th.
To encourage an active start to our forum, please try and post at least one reply or open at least one new thread per visit. Even JUST a

with another member is welcomed. Even if you do not start a serious thread or topic on Soap making or lotion making we'd all like to hear what you've been up to or not as the case may be... 
This is just a small very earnest plea to everybody to make this forum a place that you'd like to come back to. Active posting helps to make it an interesting place to come back to every day. I hope you will all enjoy the competition and that it would also give everybody something to look forwards to every day.
Nominations will be made by members and winners will be voted for by poll... admin will not be eligible for competing but as members choose nominees and members vote for the winners I think the competition could be open for all other members except admin. We'll let you guys decide...

This sounds great. We just got back from another boating trip. I knew we had fun, but did not realize we were gone a month.

Did you mean from July 17th to August 25th. Hehe.

yeah yeah... felt like you guys were away for a month!! hehe! we missed you! Hope you had a good and relaxing time... I'm greener than my soap came out I'm so jealous!! thank G I got the year correct... that was just a fluke too!

I've tried to reply to it several times, but in the forum that it was in, I couldn't, as only admin's could post in that forum!

or have a chance to giggle at wayne's month long trip. . . Such a hoot. . . After this i had to go and check our bookings for holidays. . . I was sacred i messed that up. . .

The time for our competition has drawn to an end... please help me with nominations or ideas to award 5 small gift baskets to some of our members online...
I have recently again been thinking about how prizes were awarded on the old NW Soapers based on first replies to randomly placed threads... if that would be a better and more exciting and fun way to award some prizes please let me know...
any ideas guys?
my problem is how to award the prizes without bias and fairly to members...
I would for obvious reasons not be eligible...

I kind of like the random idea. He's a wild notion. To help with the time zones, you could
1. pick a random number X between 1 and 5 (or some reasonable limit)
2. start a random thread
3. the person that makes the X'th reply on that thread wins
4. only the 1st reply of each person is counted, so loading up replies on the thread won't help
This way we won't know if the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th reply will be the winner until it's announced.

Riann was wanting us to give some ideas on how to run the forum contest. He was suggesting that the 1st person to respond to his contest thread win. I was just suggesting to make the winning response a more random surprise.

sorry for the terribly long absence!... and the resulting confusion... I have been busy busy and just rotten tired every night...
a terrible tense schedule and other circumstance... to blame...
Originally i had hoped for some response and ideas for a fifth prize but I received none... Wayne is spot on on trying to make the comp more exciting and random...
I had thought of trying an online random list picker but even those can be manipulated... I'd like to think everybody would have a free and equal chance to win any prize...
I will post some easy questions with leads of which resource to use as reference maybe and the first to answer correctly or acceptably would be taken as the winner of that prize.... as we said 5 prizes in total...
if you are the winner please contact me by PM with postage address details...
