Did anyone make soap this weekend?
I got a saskatoon berry and an extremely sexy for men done, I have 3 or 4 more to do, it is sooo humid here, the toonberry is super soft, there will be no removing it from the mold for awhile, it is messing up my plans . Oh well I have labels and stuff to do to.
Anyone else soaping ??

Susan, try subbing an new oil at 10% into your favourite recipe?
Kellie, I was at a business conference over the weekend so I only got some bevelling done. I am making 2 batches today however, my pumice mechanics soap and my 9 Carat Gold facial one with a new eo blend to try out

Susan... I have had soap block for a while... then got inspired only to fall on my face after disaster... hehe... being busy and overly hot has stopped me from doing what I wanted to do but I do think I won't be able to hold off doing something soon... maybe not before my Holidays though... off to Thailand soon...
I so hear you on humidity Kellie! It is absolutely sweltering here! it would also be the same or worse in Thailand but at least the beach will be there too to cool off in...
TC, I am so intrigued by your 9 carat Gold bar... it sounds absolutely devine... i love your idea about subbing one new oil for an old on in a standard recipe... in my breast milk soap i have gone totally off my usual recipe and although the second try bombed the first one came out really nice except for some minor issues... I only ever used olive at 40% before and upped it to 50% in that batch...
I will be staying away from untried colorants sourced locally until i invest in imported trusted ones... I have been told off recently for not using "Natural" ingredients by Spence... The colorant was a big nono for him... he says if you want to make handmade and better soap do it right and natural... Oh well... Have to find a niche somewhere...

You can use carrots for orange , makes a lovely soap.
Tomato sauce for light brickish red, also makes a lovely soap.
Pureed Cucumbers, bits of green.
Peppermint tea, green flecks.
Chlorophyll caps opened up and swirled are said to give a green.
Vit B caps for brilliant yellow.
Alkanet makes beautiful shades of purple.
Are micas acceptable ??

Re: Did anyone make soap this weekend?
I guess we have had soapers block as well (too many good days for boating right now). Billie did break down and make a small log mold batch yesterday. We just went down and cut it this evening, and will take pics tomorrow.

That sounds great Wayne, we have been deprived of seeing her gorgeous soap for far to long now

Wow Kellie. We just noticed that our soap looks mysteriously like your cucumber soap. I swear I did not steal your pics. hehe

I know you didn't silly.. It is just that great minds think alike.. It is pretty cool that one was done in a slab and one in a log..
